Spooks & Shoes: 3

What can you get with $3? A gourmet coffee? A pumpkin to carve? A bag of candy?  How about A PAIR OF VELOUR STACKED HEEL BOOTIES!  I went shopping with my future sister-in-law the other weekend and we stopped into Rue21, and of course, I go straight to the clearance section and see two pairs of these left in my size and marked down to $3. That was the ultimate sign that they needed to come home with me and adorn my feet this fall. The stars were truly aligned for me that day!

1972 Vintage Bayshore Industries Halloween Blow Mold

I feel like I scored an incredible find this past weekend at River City Trading Post, my local antique mall. My husband walked into booth and shouted “Hey, Callie…you need this!” and that is why I married him – he knows me so well! I did need this cute little table top blow mold.

Spooky Good Style: Skirts and Graphic Tees

I love putting together outfits! I know to some it seems like a chore, but I love clothes and how they are a fantastic means to express yourself. In my opinion, your outfit can make you a walking work of art. You never know when your duds might just be someone’s inspiration.  One of my favorite looks in the summer/early fall is pairing graphic tees with fun, flowing, patterned skirts.

Check out my looks below for some scary good ideas:

My Favorite Creepy Podcasts

I absolutely LOVE listening to podcasts. They’re my favorite thing to listen to when I work out, go on walks (my exercise of choice!) and on my commute to and from work – even around town. I listen to a wide variety of podcasts and podcast genres, but one way I stay in the spooky spirit, is by listening to spooky podcasts. I’ve shared some of my favorite creepy podcasts below in no particular order. I’ve also included a brief description of the podcast and style to help you find some new listening material that will inspire your Halloweenhead.

Salem: The Food and Libations

As mentioned in my previous Salem post, I wanted to share some of my favorite places to grab a bite or a drink in Witch City! I clearly was incredibly hungry during my trip (I blame it on all the walking) because I seem to have failed to photograph any of the food I ate, however, if I’m writing about it here – it was definitely good for me to be able to remember it!

If you’re in Salem be sure to check these places out:

Healthy Fall Flavored Breakfast Sweet Potato

fallbreakfastsweetpotato1

I’m working on eating healthier by keeping away from processed foods and sugars. This easy recipe can be Whole 30 compliant too! Just modify as needed. I made this for my breakfast twice this weekend and it is surprisingly delicious and keeps you full – which I find is always difficult when you’re trying to eat healthy. My favorite thing about this recipe is that is has all the great flavors that remind me of fall!

Here’s how I made it:

Spooks & Shoes: 1

spookyshoes

This is slightly embarrassing for me to admit, but I have an addiction to shoes. Especially shoes that are on sale. It is frightening. For example, earlier this year I was cleaning out the coat and shoe closet and lined up my entire shoe collection in rows. I counted over 75 pairs…shocking, I know! I justify my shoe collection by telling myself, “hey, at least I did not pay more than $20 per pair!”

$15 Halloween Haul

IMG_9425

I search the Facebook marketplace from time to time looking for vintage Halloween accents and decor (specifically blow molds) and stumbled across a “lot” of Halloween loot. The original post said $20, but I offered $15 (I’m always looking for the best deal) and the seller graciously accepted my offer.

Soft Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies

What better way to kick off the weekend than baking a batch of cookies? How about a batch of PUMPKIN cookies at that? I don’t think there is ever a wrong time of the year to indulge in a little pumpkin!

Today I want to share a yummy, easy, pumpkin chocolate chip cookie recipe with you! I made some today and my husband calls them “muffin tops” since they are soft cookies (but I love them nonetheless!) . So if you like soft cookies and or muffin tops, these are the cookies for you.
