I absolutely LOVE listening to podcasts. They’re my favorite thing to listen to when I work out, go on walks (my exercise of choice!) and on my commute to and from work – even around town. I listen to a wide variety of podcasts and podcast genres, but one way I stay in the spooky spirit, is by listening to spooky podcasts. I’ve shared some of my favorite creepy podcasts below in no particular order. I’ve also included a brief description of the podcast and style to help you find some new listening material that will inspire your Halloweenhead.
The No Sleep Podcast
The No Sleep Podcast has an incredible all star cast of narrators who act our horror/science fiction stories each week. The voice actors are insanely talented and the stories always keep me on my toes. They usually feature two stories per episode and they run about an hour to an hour and a half long.
Spooked
I LOVED Snap Judgement’s “Campfire Tales” episodes and apparently so did everyone else! Snap Judgement and WNYC Studios launched Spooked last fall which is basically LOTS Of Campfire Tales episodes and season 2 is coming in August – and I cannot wait! Glynn Washington hosts this series of scary stories and unexplained tales. The production quality is fantastic and the stories are sometimes narrated by the actual person who experienced them. Check out Snap Judgement as well and tune in this fall for their Campfire Tales episode!
LORE
I have been listening to LORE for a long while now and have truly enjoyed seeing Aaron Mahnke (podcast creator and host) grow his fantastic story telling based on historic events into a top downloaded podcast AND an Amazon Prime TV series, which launched last fall! These 30-40 minute episodes are fascinating true historical tales or lore and legends which always keep me thinking about the unexplained…
Deadly Manners
Deadly Manners is an amazing 10 episode dark, murder mystery series with an all-star cast including Kristen Bell, LeVar Burton, RuPaul, Michelle Visage – and the No Sleep Podcast’s own, David Cummings. I highly recommend listening this with your headphones on because it is recorded in such a way that you can hear the commotion and movements all around you.
CREEPY
Creepy is a fantastic little podcast with episodes ranging from 10-30 minutes in length that dramatically retells creepypastas, legends and tales of horror.
Anything Ghost
Anything Ghost has been retelling your ghost stories and paranormal experiences since 2006. Lex Wahl hosts this ghost story podcast where he reads listener ghost experience or some listeners record their story and send it in to this compilation.
My Favorite Murder
I’m a Muderino – a fan of My Favorite Murder, the true-crime comedy podcast. Each week you can expect two episodes from MFM, one on Monday where Georgia and Karen retell your hometown murder stories and one on Thursday where they share the stories behind their favorite murders throughout history. If you’re a true-crime enthusiast, you should check this podcast out! S.S.D.G.M, friends!
