It’s officially five months until the best day ever – Halloween! At Home is making all Halloween obsessed folks happy lately by stocking Halloween decor early – well before all other retailers and just in time to help us Halloween heads have something to look forward to during the sweltering summer months.
I ventured over to my local At Home this afternoon and was pleasantly surprised to find several aisles full of Halloween joy. My absolute favorite find are these positively ghoulish skeleton gnomes. I collect gnomes, and once I saw these little guys I knew my collection would not be complete without them.

Valloween has come and passed, and Halloween seems so far away. But fear not spooky friends, because this time in-between seasons has me feeling nostalgic and looking back on my past blog posts.
I figured now would be a great time to revisit some of my favorite posts, recipes and DIYs to keep the spirit of Halloween alive during this chilly and bleak transition into spring.
Take a look back at my favorite posts with me…

The candy has been passed out, the pumpkins have been carved, the decorations are coming down and our frightfully fun costume creations limply hang lifeless in the closet – this is enough to spark all of the sad feelings that Halloween has certainly passed and we have to wait another year to revel in it’s delights once again. But fear not, that’s not the case! If you love something, you don’t have to let it go! So if you LOVE Halloween like me, enjoy it every day, week, and month of the year! This year’s Monster Mash Bash was a hit and a scary good time was had by all! I appreciated everyone’s compliments towards my creepy castle – some guests assumed it was just to liven up the party but I had to divulge, this creepy castle gets creeped out on Sept. 1 every year. The only way I know to enjoy Halloween decor and hoarding habits is to display it sooner and longer!

One of my favorite things about the Halloween season is driving around and seeing everyone’s haunted houses, spooky stoops, and grinning gourds. I decided (despite the unseasonably warm temperature) to haunt the front of my house that last week in September and wanted to share with you how it turned out!

This is my first time sending and receiving Halloween cards from the amazing ghouls in the online Halloween community. I have appreciated all of the kindness and support from everyone AND all of the spooktacular Halloween wishes! There’s nothing like ringing in October than sending off and receiving a bright orange envelopes in the mailbox! I wanted to display my greetings I’ve received – but I wanted to do so the impatient crafter way. This October has been very business with work events and family events already so I wanted to show them off quickly.

Happy October!!! I have always wanted my own cute front porch sign for Halloween! Being the thrifty-queen I am, I could never cave for one in the store when I knew I had the power to create my own one-of-a-kind sign for much less. That is just what I did – and I do believe it came out just spiffy. Check out how I made mine to inspire your own festive front porch masterpiece. Continue reading “DIY Halloween Front Porch Sign”
If you get tired of too many orange plastic pumpkin pails in your house or attic – don’t throw them out! Instead, breathe new life into them and make them into a creepy cat (one that is vintage inspired at that!). This idea didn’t just come to me – I actually stumbled on the idea years ago on Pinterest and have been meaning to give it a try myself. I had to buy a pumpkin pail (believe it or not, I did not have an extra one laying around!) to create my cat pail. I snagged one for $1 (which is typically what they cost at the store) at the flea market weeks ago. At one point, I did have lots of pumpkin head pails because I always pot mums in them and set them around the front porch this time of year, however I am a lazy gardener and housekeeper and they got busted and faded by the elements just chilling out in my backyard. I’ve learned my lesson from that – respect your pumpkin pails, and in return they’ll respect you and your creativity.

I love gearing up for the Halloween season with some good Halloween books – everything from scary stories, how-to’s, recipes and other tales. I’m also all about saving money, so I often visit my local library to get my Halloween reading fix for free. My library has an awesome app that let’s me enter in my search term (which was Halloween), search the catalog and request to have the books I want sent to my local branch for pick up. It makes it a lot easier to peruse the Halloween collection at home and decide which ones I want!
I’m going to be completely honest, I am a bit of a slow reader so I’ve not finished all these books yet, but I want to share with you what I found in case you’re looking for some frightening new reads:
