A Review of Hershey’s 2020 Halloween Candy

Some good news for 2020 – Hershey’s released some “new” Halloween candy! AND, you can find it on shelves now (I picked some up at my local Walgreen’s store).

Many of the new candies have familiar flavors with a spooky twist – which makes it more fun to eat in my opinion!

I tried the green marshmallow Witch’s Brew Kit-Kat  bars, the Cookies ‘n’ Creme Fangs and Reese’s Franken-Cups!

My thoughts on the candies are below…along with close up photos.

WARNING: prepare for a hunger for some tasty Halloween treats to set in while reading.

Halloween Shopping 2020: Walgreens

I was working on this post the day before my son arrived! I had planned to get it posted on his birthday – but that day had much more exciting plans! I’ll share our birth story in a different post.

I found myself visiting Walgreens to pick up photos for my son’s baby book that I was working on. I was pleasantly surprised to find Halloween on the shelves in early August during this quick visit that ultimately turned into a visit that required lots of Halloween candy that would accompany me home.

Although the display was sparse and shared an aisle with back-to-school supplies, it still was magical and full of fright! Keep scrolling to see their collection this year (which includes exclusive Nightmare Before Christmas items just for Walgreens!).

Franken-Lime Pie

It’s the perfect Summerween pie: Franken-Lime! This citrusy, airy, creamy and light pie is a taste of summer with a spooky twist. My husband told me he looked more like Shrek than Frankenstein because I foolishly forgot his neck bolts, so don’t make the same mistake I did when you decorate and do Frankie proud by giving him some neck bolts!

I can’t say this is an actual key lime pie because I didn’t use key limes – just regular limes and lime juice but it can certainly be modified. Regardless, it’s delicious! It could be best described as a “lime custard pie”. Recipe below:

Mask Up for Halloween Shopping 2020

Halloween shopping season 2020 is already a bit strange and unusual. If you ever wanted to enjoy the joy of the Halloween shopping season with real-life horror movie vibes, 2020 is the year that gave us just that.

I hope everyone is enjoying safe outings to their favorite retailers such at At Home, Old Time Pottery, JoAnn Fabric and Michael’s – all of which have already started spooking their shelves! There’s also safest Halloween shopping experience for all this year, which is shopping from your home on your phone or computer online (Target has already launched their line digitally!).

If you choose to go out to shop during this pandemic, I strongly encourage you to acquire a spooky Halloween face mask. Luckily, there are so many talented seamstresses, sewers, and designers out there that have created the perfect Halloween face masks for your spooky style.

Check out some of my favorite ones you can order online before you venture out to ’tis the season with spookiness! Continue reading “Mask Up for Halloween Shopping 2020”

Halloween Shopping 2020: Old Time Pottery

It’s Halloween in July at my favorite home decor store, Old Time Pottery!  Halloween shopping certainly looks a lot different than it did last year, but I decided to mask up and take a peek inside my store (it was surprisingly not busy for a Sunday afternoon outing) while keeping my distance!

I was immediately greeted by walls and bins of pumpkins which made my heart soar! Spooky season is HERE!

As I perused the fall and Halloween decor offerings this year, I did notice there were some items that looked familiar to me – some of them were in stock last Halloween. You can take a stroll down memory lane and compare the collection to last year’s in my 2019 Old Time Pottery Halloween Shopping blog post.

I am not sure how much Halloween shopping I will be doing this year because I’ll be giving birth to my son in about 38 days (which is peak Halloween shopping season and decorating time!).

I’m glad I at least got to squeeze in a visit to OTP!  I hope you enjoy this early shopping trip and that it brings you some Halloween cheer if you’re unable to venture out during this scary time.

Halloween Shopping 2020: At Home

It’s only fitting that we’d kick off Halloween shopping season with “At Home” stores because we’ve literally all been at home for the majority of 2020. But there’s nothing like feeling a bit of normalcy by seeing Halloween hit the shelves in the Summer as the official ringing in of the Halloween shopping season.

I decided to check out what my local Tulsa, OK location had on my lunch break last week with my trusty facemask and hand sanitizer in tow.

There was just a smattering of decor spooking the shelves, but it was just enough to send my Halloween heart aflutter and that all too familiar yearning for Fall!

Take a stroll down the aisles with me in the photos below!

Life Update!

It’s been a minute since I’ve posted here! I could make excuses, but no one likes to hear that.

Life has been an absolute whirlwind – I know it has for all of us all over the world as we work through a global pandemic (I never imagined we’d be living in a science fiction movie…) but I hope everyone is being safe, has plenty of TP,  is staying healthy and taking care of themselves.

Something I’m also taking care of right now is my wonderful, precious BABY BOY due August 21, 2020 (my husband’s birthday!).

DIY Halloween Snowman

Despite what the groundhog says, it’s still winter in Oklahoma. Today is the first good snow we have had since 2011! So I thought it would be fitting to share my DIY Halloween Snowman (which was meant to be shared for Creepmas….but I have had some crazy life events happen that I can’t wait to share with you soon!).

I have had the idea for some time now to Halloween-ify a thrifted Christmas decor object, and what better object to Halloween-ify in the winter than a jovial snowman. I think I was inspired by on my favorite and the silliest winter horror film “Jack Frost” .

Keep reading to see the before and after of this spooky snow abomination…
